When it comes to desi representation at the Cannes Film Festival, one name stands out – the legendary Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. With over two decades of strutting down the red carpet, she graced the screening of Francis Ford Coppola's "Megalopolis" on Thursday.
Dazzling in a black and white Falguni Shane Peacock ensemble adorned with 3D gold embellishments, Aishwarya owned the red carpet. Off the red carpet, she was spotted walking hand-in-hand with her usual companion and Cannes sidekick, her daughter Aaradhya. In a heartwarming video shared by a fan page on social media, Aaradhya can be seen smiling as she walks alongside her mother.
During a conversation with Anupama Chopra's Film Companion at Cannes last year, Aishwarya was asked about Aaradhya's experience at the festival. Aishwarya responded, "Isn't that a question she should answer? At some point in her life, I guess, she will. And that's when we'll know what she really takes away. It's really about being together, it's second nature to her, she knows everyone here, it's really about reconnecting with friends, coming back here to Cannes, an experience that's so familiar to her.
She (Aaradhya) is a lot like me in that sense that we are people's people. It starts with that. She loves the play, she loves the excitement. I'm sure she understands that this is truly a film festival. It's really about the world of cinema."
Abhishek and Aishwarya, co-stars of films like "Umrao Jaan," "Guru," "Kuch Naa Kaho," and "Raavan," tied the knot on April 20, 2007. The couple welcomed their daughter Aaradhya in 2011, adding another dimension of joy to their lives.
